Theme Setup
To install your logo, go to Customize → Header → Logo and upload your logo.
Once you’ve uploaded your logo, you’ll see a Logo Max Width field appear below the image. You can adjust the width to control the size of your logo.
Don’t forget to set the Logo Layout to Logo Only for desktop, tablet, and mobile by clicking each device icon and selecting Logo Only.
Recommended logo image size and Logo Max Width for each theme:
• Chloe: 800x320px | 430px
• Camille: 800x320px | 420px
• Estelle: 800x320px | 420px
• Olivia: 750x300px | 400px
Some of our themes also include a Full Width Header option. If your theme includes this feature, go to Customize → Header → Logo → Design instead of uploading a regular logo. Under Full Width Header Image, upload your header image. Once you’ve uploaded your image, go back to the Logo tab and set the Logo Layout to Logo Only for desktop, tablet, and mobile by clicking each device icon and selecting Logo Only.
Recommended full width header image size for each theme:
• Vivienne: 1960x360px
Go to Appearance → Customize → Site Identity. Under Site Icon, click Select Site Icon to upload your favicon image.
Kadence allows you to conveniently set your social icon links site-wide. To set your social links, go to Appearance → Customize → General → Social Links. Add your social profile URLs to any fields you’d like. Be sure to include the full URL, including https://
Depending on which theme you are using, you may see social icons in the top navigation menu. Please note that adding your social links (above) does not automatically add additional icons to areas that currently contain icons. To add additional icons, go to Appearance → Customize. Hover your cursor over the social icons (in the live website preview) and click on the blue pencil icon that appears. This will take you directly to the Header Social section. Click Add Social + to select a new icon.
You might also have a Social Icons block in your sidebar or footer, which is independent of the Kadence social icons. Go to Appearance → Widgets → Sidebar 1 or Footer – Social Icons. Click on the Social Icons block, then click on each individual icon to add the URL to your social profile.
If you imported the demo content, you will already have two existing menus. You can simply edit these menus by deleting or adding pages and changing their order by dragging and dropping them. The available menu areas may vary depending on the theme. The Mobile Menu area is used to display the menu on mobile devices, so make sure to assign the menu you want to use for your mobile menu to both its regular menu area and the Mobile Menu area. The Blog Categories menu is used for the Categories widget in the Sidebar and, in some themes, in the Footer as well. Once you’re finished, click Save Menu to save your changes.
To edit or create a new menu, go to Appearance → Menus.
To add text to the Author Box, go to Users → Profile. Scroll down to the Biographical Info section and enter the text you would like to display in your Author Box. Don’t forget to click Update Profile to save your changes.
If you imported the demo widgets, you’ll already have the About widget added to your Sidebar (some themes also include an About widget in the Footer). You can also add the widget manually by clicking the Sidebar 1 widget area, then clicking the blue + icon at the top and searching for About widget.
To edit your About widget, go to Appearance → Widgets and click on the About widget to open its settings.
You can customize the widget by:
• Editing the widget title
• Adding your own image from your Media Library (How to Get an Image File URL from the Media Library)
• Choosing between a circle or square image
• Editing the About text
• Adding a Read More button
If you imported the demo content, you will already have a menu called Blog Categories under Appearance → Menus. This is the menu that will appear in the Categories widget.
To edit the Blog Categories menu or create a new one, go to Appearance → Menus. Under the Categories tab, select the categories you would like to add, then click Add to Menu. You can also change their order by dragging and dropping them. Click Save Menu when you’re finished.
Next, go to Appearance → Widgets. If you imported the demo widgets, the Categories widget will already be added to the appropriate widget area. Simply select the Blog Categories menu from the menu dropdown. If you created a new menu, select that menu instead.
All of our themes support newsletter signup forms through Genesis eNews Extended, which allows you to connect your website to your mailing list provider.
Newsletter forms can be added to the Sidebar on all of our themes. Some themes also include a newsletter widget area in the Footer, while some premium themes include a newsletter widget area on the Homepage.
Each newsletter widget area is separate, so the newsletter displayed in each location can be different:
• Sidebar 1: The newsletter widget added here will appear in your sidebar.
• Footer: The newsletter widget added to the footer widget area will appear in your footer.
• Homepage: On themes that include a newsletter on the homepage, the [Theme Name] Home Newsletter widget area is used for the newsletter displayed on the homepage. Since widgets cannot be added directly to pages, this widget area allows you to set up your newsletter as a widget and display it on your homepage (through the [themename_newsletter] shortcode). You can find this widget area under Appearance → Widgets.
Some themes may include all three newsletter locations, allowing you to display a different newsletter form in the sidebar, footer, and homepage.
Since you’ve already imported the demo widgets in the previous step, the newsletter widget is already in place. All that’s left is to connect Genesis eNews Extended to your mailing list provider. Here are instructions.
In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of connecting your Instagram profile to the Instagram Feed plugin.
(Before you begin, be sure that the Smash Balloon Social Photo Feed plugin is installed and active on your site.)
1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Instagram Feed > All Feeds. Click Add New.
2. Under Select Feed Type, select User Timeline (this should be the pre-selected option). Click Next.
3. On the next page, click Add Source. You will be redirected to the plugin’s website, where you’ll log into your Instagram account and connect the plugin to your Instagram profile. Follow the prompts on their website to authorize the connection.
4. You’ll be automatically returned to your dashboard, click on the Instagram profile you just connected, then click Next.
5. After selecting a feed source, you’ll be taken to an area where you can customize the appearance of your feed. To set up your feed like the demo of your theme, you’re going to make a few simple modifications to the feed settings:
Feed Layout
Feed Height: Make sure the box remains empty
Padding: 0
Number of Posts (Desktop): Set this to the number of posts you’d like to display
Number of Posts (Mobile): Set this to the number of posts you’d like to display
Columns (Desktop): Set this to the number of columns you’d like to display (usually the same as the number of posts if you’d like to display a single row, like in our demos)
Columns (Tablet): Set this to the number of posts you’d like to display
Columns (Mobile): Set this to the number of posts you’d like to display
Header
Uncheck the “Enable” box
Load More Button
Uncheck (or keep checked) the “Enable” box
Follow Button
Uncheck (or keep checked) the “Enable” box
5. Click Save. Once you’ve connected your Instagram account and customized the feed, your Instagram feed should appear on your site automatically, as long as you imported the demo. Didn’t import the demo? Go to Appearance > Widgets > Footer – Instagram and add an Instagram Feed widget in that area.
Kadence Blocks includes a Form block that makes it super easy to create contact forms and other types of forms on your website. Your Hello Chic theme includes a pre-styled Form block, or you can create your own following this tutorial from Kadence.
After creating your form, be sure to add your email address in the “Email To Address” field so you receive notifications whenever someone submits a form. It’s also a good idea to test your contact form to make sure emails are being delivered properly. See here for further instructions and troubleshooting tips.
If you’ve double-checked that your email settings are correct and you’re still not receiving emails, you may need an SMTP plugin to handle email sending. We recommend WP SMTP.
Please note that our theme support does not include assistance with setting up or troubleshooting forms, but you can reach out to Kadence here should you have any issues.
