Import Demo Content

We provide two files for you to import the demo content (posts, pages, portfolio items, and products) as well as widgets (sidebar widgets and footer widgets, if your theme supports footer widgets).

To import the demo content, go to Tools → WordPress Import and upload the .XML demo content file (themenamedemocontent.xml) included with your purchase.

To import the demo widgets, go to Plugins and search for the Widget Importer & Exporter plugin, then install and activate it. Once activated, go to Tools → Widget Import & Exporter and select the .WIE demo widget file (themenamedemowidgets.wie) included with your purchase. Once the import is complete, you can safely delete the plugin since it’s no longer needed.

Important: After importing the demo content for your theme, it’s time to make sure your Home page displays on the homepage and your Blog page displays your posts. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings → Reading. Then simply select the imported Home page under Homepage and the imported Blog page under Posts Page.

Troubleshooting: Did you receive an error when importing your widgets that says, “You must upload a .WIE file generated by this plugin”? Some WordPress sites disallow .WIE files from being uploaded. We typically see this on sites hosted by Bluehost. Fortunately, there is an easy workaround!
1. In your WordPress dashboard, go to Plugins → Add New.
2. Search Disable Real MIME Check. Install and then activate the plugin.
3. Import the widgets again by going to Tools → Widget Import & Exporter and selecting the .WIE demo widget file (themenamedemowidgets.wie) included with your purchase.
4. Once the import is complete, you can safely delete the Disable Real MIME Check plugin since it’s no longer needed.
