Theme Install

When you purchase and download your theme, you’ll receive a ZIP file named something like ThemeName-ExtractFirst.zip. Extract this file first to access all of the included files.

Inside you’ll find:
• hellochicdesignsthemename.zip: Your WordPress theme.
• themenamedemocontent.xml: The demo content.
• themenamedemowidgets.wie: The demo widgets.
• custom-portfolio-hellochicdesigns.zip: The portfolio plugin. You’ll only need it if you plan to use the Portfolio feature on your website.

Important: Only extract the main package (ThemeName-ExtractFirst.zip). The theme file (hellochicdesignsthemename.zip) and the portfolio plugin (custom-portfolio-hellochicdesigns.zip) should remain zipped when uploading them to WordPress.

Ready to start installing your theme? For a smooth theme setup experience, please read this article in full prior to installing your theme.

There are a few important steps you’ll need to complete before starting the installation process.

• Update your site to the latest version of WordPress before installing your theme, as well as update any plugins installed on your site. Whenever updating WordPress software, plugins, or themes, be sure that your site has a backup in place.
• If you are currently using the Classic Editor plugin, please deactivate it prior to installing your theme. Kadence is built for the Block Editor and does not support the Classic Editor.
• Existing sites only: If you are currently using an automatic RSS-to-Email service or a plugin that publishes your posts on social media automatically, you’ll want to pause those temporarily. The theme installation process will import the demo posts on your site. Once your theme is installed, you can delete the demo posts and resume your RSS-to-Email feed.

To install your theme:
1. Go to Appearance → Themes and click Add New Theme → Upload Theme.
2. Upload the theme file you purchased (hellochicdesignsthemename.zip) and click Install Now.
3. Once the installation is complete, activate your Hello Chic theme.

Kadence will be installed automatically when you upload your Hello Chic theme. If it is not installed automatically, go to Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme, search for Kadence, and install it. Do not activate Kadence — your Hello Chic theme should remain active.

Note: Your Hello Chic theme is a child theme of Kadence, which is why Kadence is installed automatically when you upload your theme.
